So your kid’s been watching a lot of old Hendrix concerts on Youtube while you’ve been watching your http://www.cannonsatellite.com/direct-tv-spor channels and now he wants to play guitar. If you want to be dad of the year you should get him one – here’s what to know:
Look Online: Sometimes you can find great deals on guitars on sites like Ebay and Craigslist. Many people (probably like your kid) start to play and then get bored, selling their instruments for a discounted price.
Choose Carefully: We think it’s best to pick an acoustic to start with – it’s less complicated and a heck of a lot less loud than an electric and it’s cheaper, too. Once your child masters the wood and strings he can move on to something a little more Van Halen.
Get Lessons, Too: If you’re going to get him a guitar don’t just throw him to the wolves and make him teach himself – sign him up for a few months of beginner lessons so he’ll know what he’s working with. Give him a goal and check the local college for someone willing to teach for cheap.

People across the world play guitar for many different reasons. Depending on the reason there are certain guitars which make more sense to play. In order to determine whether you should play an acoustic or electric guitar you should consider some of the differences between the two. Acoustic guitars depend on the hollowness of the guitar for the sound. Acoustic guitars feature a hole in the middle which allows the vibrations from the wood and the strings to pass through the guitar and out.I found some more information here. The strings are often heavier and require a little more force to produce clean sounds. That being said, a person can simply pick up an acoustic guitar and play. No extra equipment is necessary since it relies solely on the vibrations of the strings and guitar for sound emission. Electric guitars on the other hand are a little bit easier to pick because the strings are lighter. The strings are lighter because an electric guitar is not hollow and depends on the sounds being transmitted to the fret and amplifier. Many people prefer electric guitars because they are often thinner and lighter and because of updated technology they can not only amplify their music but add affects as well. In the end, the decision may come down to sound. There is quite a sound difference between an electric and acoustic. Acoustic guitars tend to sound more raw and natural to where electric guitars can sound gritty or whiny. Nevertheless, deciding which one to play comes down to personal preference. If cost is a factor then an acoustic may be your best bet since no extra equipment is needed to start playing and the guitars are often half the price.

The nice thing about playing a guitar is that there aren’t a lot of accessories needed to play or own one. But there are a few items that every guitar owner should have.

Invest in a good guitar case. These come in either a “hard” or “soft” shell. The hard shell case is better for protecting the guitar from accidents or being banged around, but a soft shell is fine if that is not an issue.

A capo is something that most guitarists find essential. It’s a device that attaches to the frets of the guitar, changing the key, or pitch, of the guitar. These come in many styles to suit individual preferences.

A guitar strap is a useful item to have, especially while performing somewhere. More attention to playing and less on holding up the instrument means better music, and ultimately a more enjoyable experience.

Most musicians use picks to pluck at the strings of their guitar. Consider investing in quite a few, because they are misplaced easily. These are usually plastic and come in varying sizes and types of flexibility.

Most of these items are reasonably priced , but at the same time extremely useful for guitar owners.More info here: Environmental Enforcement Agents Targeting Guitars

The different types of guitars to choose from are not just brands, but the real difference is the style of design and what they are used for. There are several types and they fall into one of the following categories.

There are acoustic guitars that fall into three main categories. The first type is the nylon string acoustic which is mainly used for classical styles of music and is traditionally finger picked. The second type is the steel string acoustic which is used for a variety of styles including folk, country and rock, but the steel stringed instrument maybe picked, finger picked or played with thumb picks.Check out this link here. The third type is the acoustic electric guitar which is used for many styles and maybe nylon or steel stringed, but it is distinguished by having a pickup inside the hollow body to amplify it.

There are also electric guitars. These are defined by not having a hollow body generally and they use nickel wound strings. They need amplification and may have several string numbers including six strings, seven strings, 12 strings or double necked guitars having six and 12 strings. Most all electric guitars will be some variation of these listed here.

With so many guitars on the market to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to choose the right one. Here is how to buy the best guitar for you.

The first question you should ask yourself is, “Do I want an electric or an acoustic guitar?” The answer to this question will depend largely on the type of music that you want to learn. You can practice on either type, but they sound vastly different.

An electric guitar is easier to play because the strings are usually lighter than an acoustic and lie much closer to the neck – making them easier to press down and hold in chord shapes. And keep in mind that you will need to buy additional supplies for an electric such as a cord and an amplifier.

Price is another concern for most people. It is a mistake to buy the cheapest guitar on the market. You will get what you pay for – cheap workmanship and cheap materials. This adds up to an instrument that will be hard to play and that will not stay in tune. And who wants to practice on and play a guitar like that?

You do not have to spend a ton of money to get a quality instrument. There are quite a few good quality acoustics and electrics in the 200 to 300 range. Go to your local guitar shop and try out all the guitars that strike your fancy. This will give you a great idea of the quality differences amongst the various models. Choose the one that feels right in your hands, sounds good, and stays in tune.
