Cold cold April

April 6th, 2007 by info

For a minute, it seemed like the weather followed us back from Texas, where everyone is walking around in flip-flops and smiling. Then it got cold again. Oh, well.

South by Southwest was awesome - thank you to everyone for coming out to our shows and making them that much better. The showcase was great, and the parties even better. Shout outs to our man Girl Talk, the dudes in Huge V and White Williams, Lil Dinos, and our new friends Maps & Atlases, Catfish Haven, and Citay. All bands worth sharing beer after beer with.

We got some more recording done over the past month - a few harmonies here, some guitar skronk there, and we’ll be halfway through tracking the next album. We’ll be working out some new new songs over the next few months to hopefully record in early Fall.

Mittens is reconvening around Memorial Day weekend for some serious arranging sessions and a few shows. Many leads, but no confirmed dates - but expect a handful of appearances in and around Chicago. We’ll post them as they’re locked down.

Possibly the most exciting news, however, is the fast-approaching remix EP, which should be ready by our Memorial Day bonanza. This will be a limited-edition release with killer hand-made packaging, and will be available on our website and at shows. Trey Told ‘Em (Girl Talk & Hearts of Darknesses), White Williams, Star as Eyes, Alan Astor, Osmowhitely, and Trefoil Productions have all stepped up to mangle songs from Look Up the Sky!! Plus, it will feature a handful of videos to play on your computer. How could you not want this?

Thanks again, everyone. We’ll see you soon.

yr pals,
the Mittens on Strings
